Notable musical endeavors: Gary Shaine (original music), The unHandsome Devils, Hot Action Cop, StepDown, Braille, The Shake, Krankenstein
Gary is one of those guys that has music running through him at all times. Mainly a drummer, Gary is a very rounded and accomplished musician all around. Starting drums around the age of 8, he was playing in bands in his early teens. At the age of 15, he and a few other guys a couple of years older than himself headed to the big town of Peoria, IL to record a demo. The guitar player in that band was none other than DJ Ashba (Sixx:AM, Guns ‘n Roses). Later in high school, Gary and Revel in Red bassist, Pete, joined forces and played in many bands together since.
Drums always came naturally to Gary with early influences such as Alex Van Halen, Tommy Lee (Motley Crue), Neil Peart (Rush), and Scott Rockenfield (Queensryche). He was drawn to the showmanship just as much as the technical side of drums & developed his own style/brand of showmanship. He’s honed in on his craft for many years and it shows. If that was not impressive enough, he is usually singing lead or harmony while the sticks are flying around.
Gary is another one in the band who has a strong sense for writing music and has been releasing songs by himself since the late ’90’s where he plays most/if not all instruments. Drums are his main instrument, but he has a love for stringed instruments and singing. Check out his original music at GaryShaine.com. He’s also got some songs on all digital platforms as well such as YouTube Music, Spotify, Apple Music, & Amazon Music.
In 2007, Gary got the opportunity to audition for a National band in Nashville called Hot Action Cop. He was already a huge fan from having heard them in several movies, tv shows & video games, so he knew a lot of the material already. He immediately joined the band and spent the next year with the band touring different parts of the US.
Another proud moment for Gary was in 2005, when he offered up a drum track for “Soundtrack of a Soul” compilation by Liberty ‘n Justice, which featured big-name singers and musicians alike. Accompanying Gary on this track (Another Nail) were Sebastian Back (ex-Skid Row), Timothy Gains (Stryper) & Keri Kelli (Vince Neil, Alice Cooper, Night Ranger).
To Sum it up
This Central Illinois favorite is a six-piece rock band covering hits from the 1970s to today, from Prince and Van Halen, to Boston, Night Ranger, REO, Pink, Bruno Mars, Ed Sheeran and more. They have just one rule: Every song must ROCK.
